Creating local WordPress website is used for practice
among developers and site owners. By xampp you can practice on WordPress
website without creating actual website on internet.

themes and plugins and test their features, and learn WordPress basic
development.

Note: Local website will only be visible to you on your
computer. If you want to build a live WordPress site, then you will need a domain
name and WordPress
hosting. We

What is XAMPP?
The
beauty of XAMPP is that. If you want to create a local website you will need to
set up a web server software (Apache), PHP, and MySQL on your computer.
PHP
is a programming language and MYSQL is a database management software.
Both of them are required to run WordPress.
XAMPP
have default install these both. You don’t need to install separately but just
install XAMPP
Now

computer.

Installing XAMPP on Your Computer
Start
steps with me step by step we will let to point to create website now.
So the first
step is to go to XAMPP website. And click on the button for your operating
system
So
after selecting your choice it will start downloading. We are trying on windows
May this screen differ from you. But the process will be same comment us. Now
click on the setup to start installation.
After opening this pop-up it will ask where you want to install. The default choice will work for most users. So keep clicking on the next after finishing the setup
After finishing the wizard, check the ‘start the control panel now’ option and then click on the finish button.
After click on finish will a pop of xampp control panel.. Go ahead and click on the start button next to Apache and MySQL.
When
you click on start(only apache and mysql) and the applications highlighted in
green you have successfully install it.
After
that you a pop-up will show it is important to click on allow access for both
applications to run on your computer.
Creating a Local WordPress Site with XAMPP
Now
it’s time to start a step for creating website. First go to WordPress website to download WordPress.
After downloading WordPress folder you need to extract a zip file of it. There you will see a WordPress folder copy that. And go to the place where you have install xampp open it. Most users may have the location of that folder as given below.
On
Windows it would be C:/Program Files/XAMPP/htdocs or C:\Xampp\htdocs folder.
On
Mac, it will be /Applications/XAMPP/htdocs folder.
Paste that WordPress folder to inside
htdocs folder in xampp.
Rename
the folder with website1. By that you will easily find your
websites.
Next step is to go your browser and
visit localhost/website1
Next,
you need to open your favorite web browser and visit localhost/website1. You
will see a page as given below.
In
this page show you that you need a database name, database username, password,
and host instructions.
So
it’s very easy to do such let’s start.
· Open
new tab and visit localhost/phpmyadmin/
· Click
on databases to provide name for your new database, and then click on create
button to continue.
This
page will tell you that WordPress needs a database name, database username,
password, and host information.
Let’s
create a database for your WordPress site.
You’ll
need to open a new browser tab and visit localhost/phpmyadmin/. This will
launch phpMyAdmin app that comes pre-installed with XAMPP. It allows you
to easily manage your databases using a simpler interface.
You
would need to click on Databases, provide a name for your new database, and
then click on the create button to continue.
So we
have created a database very easily to use for WordPress site.
Next
step is to go back to localhost/website1 tab and click on the
“Let’s Go” button.
So
they will ask to provide database information. Enter the database name
you created before.
Your
username should be “root”
Password
field leave blank
Database
host will be localhost and then click on submit
Once
you are done, click on the ‘Submit’ button to continue.
Then
click on run installation.
Remaining
last step WordPress will ask you to provide your website information.
The
title which you want uses for your site. And so on fill all the fields’
password username email address for your admin account. In the next step,
WordPress will ask you to provide information about your website. First, enter
the title you want to use for this site.
After
that you need to enter a username, password, and an email address for your
admin account. And click on install WordPress to continue.
Once
you have filled all the information, click on the ‘Install WordPress’ button to
continue.
After
running installation WordPress will give you login.
You
can login to your website by going to localhost/website1/wp-admin Enter
your username and password click on login. You will go to your website.
This
is your website dashboard click above on your website title as we highlighted
will visit you original site. which will need to work on that from that
dashboard.
